Abstract
This study analyzes the phenomenon of Qur'an digitalization and its impact on the transformation of religious practices in the era of social media in Indonesia. Using a combination of digital media studies, sociology of religion, and Islamic studies approaches, this research examines how the presence of Al-Qur'an applications, online tafsir content, and Qur'an-based social media activities is reshaping the ways Indonesian Muslims engage with the holy text. The findings show that digitalization has democratized access to Qur'anic content, allowing a much wider audience to access translations, tafsir, and recordings of Qur'anic recitation. However, this democratization also raises serious questions about the authority of Qur'anic interpretation, the quality of religious understanding, and the potential for misuse of Qur'anic verses in the context of identity politics and online conflicts. This study concludes that Qur'an digitalization is a double-edged sword that offers great opportunities for the spread of Qur'anic values while simultaneously posing new challenges for religious authorities and Muslim communities in Indonesia.
