IJQTS publishes original research articles, critical reviews, and scholarly essays in the following areas:
Primary Focus Areas
- Qur'anic Exegesis (Tafsir): Classical and contemporary methods of Qur'anic interpretation, comparative tafsir studies, thematic exegesis, and methodological approaches to understanding the Qur'an.
- Qur'anic Sciences (Ulum al-Qur'an): Studies on the history of the Qur'anic text, variant readings (qira'at), occasions of revelation (asbab al-nuzul), abrogation (naskh), and other foundational disciplines.
- Linguistic and Literary Studies: Arabic linguistics, rhetoric (balagha), stylistics, intertextuality, narrative analysis, and literary features of the Qur'an.
- Qur'anic Hermeneutics: Theoretical and philosophical approaches to Qur'anic interpretation, hermeneutical theories, reader-response approaches, and contextual interpretation.
- Thematic Studies: Qur'anic perspectives on theology, law, ethics, social justice, gender, interfaith relations, economics, politics, and contemporary issues.
- Historical and Comparative Studies: The Qur'an in historical context, comparative studies with other religious texts, reception history, and the Qur'an's engagement with biblical and ancient Near Eastern traditions.
