Metodologi Tafsir Maqashidi: Rekonstruksi Penafsiran Al-Qur'an Berbasis Tujuan Syariat dalam Konteks Indonesia Kontemporer

Abstract

This study examines the maqashidi tafsir methodology as an approach to Qur'anic interpretation grounded in the framework of maqasid al-shariah (objectives of Islamic law). This methodology, which has been developed by contemporary scholars such as Jasser Auda, Ahmad al-Raysuni, and Abd al-Majid al-Najjar, offers an alternative approach to Qur'anic interpretation that prioritizes the higher purposes of Islamic law over the literal meaning of individual texts. Using a conceptual analysis and critical hermeneutics approach, this study reveals that maqashidi tafsir has at least five foundational characteristics, namely its systemic orientation, its emphasis on the wisdom behind legal rulings, its sensitivity to socio-historical context, its openness to the findings of modern social science, and its commitment to the realization of human welfare. In the Indonesian context, maqashidi tafsir has been adopted and developed by a number of contemporary scholars, including Masdar Farid Mas'udi, Musdah Mulia, and scholars affiliated with the Liberal Islam Network. This study concludes that maqashidi tafsir offers significant potential for the renewal of Islamic thought in Indonesia, particularly in addressing contemporary issues that require flexible and contextual interpretations of the Qur'an.
