Journal Information
The Journal of Islamic Studies in Education (JISE) is a peer-reviewed academic journal published biannually (in May and November). The journal was established in response to the growing need for a dedicated academic forum that facilitates innovative and transformative discourse on Islamic education through interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches. JISE is committed to advancing scholarship in Islamic education across both formal and non-formal educational settings, with particular emphasis on Islamic schools (madrasah) and Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) as its primary institutional focus.
JISE publishes original research articles, theoretical studies, systematic literature reviews, and conceptual articles that contribute to the development of Islamic educational thought, policy, curriculum, management, and practice at local, national, and global levels. Submitted manuscripts must substantively address themes within the domain of Islamic education and demonstrate clear novelty and scholarly contribution. Manuscripts outside this scope — including those focused on Islamic jurisprudence, Islamic economics, or general Islamic studies without direct relevance to educational contexts — fall beyond the journal's purview.
The journal welcomes contributions from academics, researchers, educators, and practitioners worldwide. All submitted manuscripts undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process to ensure the highest standards of scholarship, originality, and academic relevance.
Current Issue
This issue has been available online since May 20th, 2026. All articles in this issue were authored/co-authored by 12 authors from three countries (Indonesia, Egypt, and India).
